The Buzios Series
Is an exploration of joy, movement, and color. It is inspired by my second visit to Brazil, a transformative experience that I felt compelled to capture and translate onto canvas — in a way I had never done before. With this new series, I hope to bring to life the energy and exuberance I felt in this vibrant region.
To do this, I collected some sand from Rocket Beach in Cabo Frio, mixing the fine, white grains with modeling paste. I then layered this mixture over a set of nine linen canvases, providing me with a completely new and unique base to paint on.
To contrast with this raw and natural surface, I commissioned a company to create custom plexiglass frames in four bold colors. The end result is something I have not seen before, and I am very excited to be sharing it with you soon.
